Participation requirements:

1. Activity consent form

Required for participants under 21 for trips or activities, this form includes important legal disclaimers. Parents or guardians acknowledge inherent risks, consent to participation, agree to follow rules, and release Scouting America and related parties from liability. 

2. Emergency authorization

Within the Activity Consent Form, parents or guardians grant permission for adult leaders to arrange for medical treatment, including hospitalization, and authorize medical providers to share relevant information with leaders for follow-up care. 

3. Medical information and restrictions

The form allows parents or guardians to provide details on special considerations, restrictions, or medical information, ensuring leaders are aware of needs like allergies. 

4. Prohibition on certain activities

Local groups may have a "Code of Conduct" detailing prohibited activities like alcohol, tobacco, firearms, gambling, violence, bullying, harassment, and inappropriate language, which participants agree to follow. 

Leader and parent registration requirements

Additional requirements for adults help protect the group:

Youth Protection Training: All registered leaders must complete this training, and parents are encouraged to review materials.

Registered adults: Adults attending overnight activities (who are not a child's parent/guardian) must be registered leaders.

Annual registration: Leaders must be truthful on their registration and follow the "Scouter Code of Conduct," which includes disclosures and conduct policies.
